About the project
A B2B fintech platform acting as an API gateway between banks and third-party financial service providers. The system handles transaction routing, authentication, rate limiting, and protocol translation at scale. Microservices architecture, high availability requirements, strict security standards.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and implementing core API gateway components: routing, authentication, rate limiting, request transformation
- Integrating with banking systems and third-party financial APIs
- Building reliable, high-load services with strict SLA requirements
- Participating in architecture decisions and technical design sessions
- Writing clean, well-tested code and contributing to engineering standards
- Collaborating with a distributed remote team across multiple time zones
What we're looking for
- 4+ years of commercial Java development
- Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Cloud
- Experience designing and building REST/gRPC APIs
- Understanding of API gateway patterns: auth, rate limiting, circuit breaker, retry
- Familiarity with message brokers (Kafka or RabbitMQ)
- SQL and NoSQL database experience (PostgreSQL, Redis)
- Solid grasp of distributed systems and microservices trade-offs
- English at Upper-Intermediate or above — daily communication with the team and stakeholders
Nice to have
- Experience with fintech, banking, or payment systems
- Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect / PSD2 standards
- Familiarity with API management platforms (Kong, AWS API Gateway, etc.)
- Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP)
